Grilled Apple, Ham and Swiss Cheese Sandwich

  • Grilled Apple Ham, and Swiss Cheese Sandwich
  • 2 slices whole wheat bread
  • 1 ½ teaspoons olive oil
  • ½ Granny Smith apple cored and very thinly sliced
  • 1 slice Swiss cheese
  • 1 slice deli ham thinly sliced
  • ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard or honey mustard
  • ½ cup spinach leaves or to taste (optional)


  • PREHEAT a grill pan, skillet or George Foreman Grill over medium heat.
  • BRUSH one side of each slice of bread with the olive oil. PLACE 1 slice of bread, olive oil side down into the pan. ARRANGE the apple slices evenly over the top. TOP with slice of ham, spinach if you're using it and Swiss cheese. SPREAD mustard on other slice of bread then place it on top of the sandwich in pan, mustard side down, olive oil side up.
  • GRILL until the bread is golden brown and then FLIP the sandwich over. COOK until the other side is golden brown and the cheese has melted, about 1 to 2 more minutes.
