Something Old is New Again
This recipe for these Slow Cooked Ranch Mushrooms has probably been around for quite a while, but it was new to me when I was sent the recipe.
Being a newlywed, my daughter recently hosted a dinner for her new husband’s family. Her husband’s grandmother brought these mushrooms to the party because they were easy to make and her family loved them.
When my daughter saw that the serving bowl was nearly licked clean, she knew the recipe had to be be shared with me. And, of course, she was right. Thank you, Grandma!
How to Make Them
Can we say Embarrassingly Easy!
I tried these out on my family on an evening we were planning to grill.
Out came my trusty slow cooker that I filled with a couple packages of whole fresh mushrooms, 1/2 stick of unsalted butter and about 3/4 of a package of dry Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing. I was trying to curb the sodium by leaving 1/4 of the package for another time. Just my preference so feel free to add the whole package.
After about 30 minutes in the slow cooker, and the butter is very soft/melted, mix all the ingredients together.
The slow cooked mushrooms were the perfect side to the surf and turf that came off the grill. The sauce is delicious, and made the perfect sauce for a grilled steak.
You can also used sliced mushrooms, but they will not take as long to cook. Start checking for doneness after about 2 hours.
Now I can’t wait for a chance to serve these mushrooms as an appetizer at my next party. Family and friends, get ready to be impressed!
