This recipe for Cranberry Brie Crostini is perfect for the holiday season. It’s colorful, delicious and so embarrassingly easy to make.
I like to think it’s actually healthy on some level or at least healthier than some of the things I prepare and eat this time of the year. Even though there’s cheese, butter and sugar, there are cranberries in this dish and they really are healthy.
Cranberries are full of healthy nutrients and antioxidants and have earned the title of “Super Food.” They’re loaded with vitamin C and fiber and over two dozen phytonutrients to reduce all of the oxidative stress our bodies are exposed to from the environments we live in and the food we eat.
The nutrients in cranberries are believed to lower the risk of certain types of cancer, improve you immune system, decrease blood pressure and lower risk for urinary tract infections.
I love fresh cranberries but, unfortunately, I love them loaded with SUGAR. Otherwise they are definitely “bitter berries.” I try to reduce the sugar when I prepare my favorite homemade Cranberry Sauce, but it’s tough to do.
So, recipes like this one I keep for special occasions and know there are worse things for me to be eating than this Cranberry Brie Crostini, regardless of the sugar.
